Buying A Laptop – What Are The Things To Consider

I’ve seen a lot of people ask Which Laptop is the best? Which laptop should i get? The thing is there’s no clear answer to these type of questions. We all have different needs and every laptop targets a specific set of consumers. That is why there are so many laptops in almost every price range and this often confuses the consumers and sometimes create panic when deciding which to get.

Laptops come with different sets of specifications, features, size, design, architecture, build and of course price. ‘Which laptop should you buy’ depends on what your requirements are.

Furthermore, there are some specific features to look out for before deciding to spend on a Laptop and these features will help with a clearer picture of the ones you should go after. yeaaah, let’s get started.😁

1. The Screen Size

Most of the laptops these days come with a 15.6-inch screen but there are also a lot of systems that come with a smaller 14-inch display. I have seen people say they love small screens and they left me wondering haha 😮  because I really love big screens. So here is preference 1 and that should be a factor in deciding for yourself.

2. The Storage

Storage here is divided into two. We have Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Solid State Drive (SSD). The difference between the two is a story for another day but you should know some things about them here. SSD is faster than HDD but they often come with lesser storage. Like it is easy to see 1TB HDD on a 200K range laptop for example and possibly then, the highest you would see on a 300K range laptop is 512GBSSD.

3. The CPU

Processor Processor. Haha, 🤣 sounds like Professor Professor. Diverse people know about AMD but I feel realistically, Intel Core is widely known. It’s very hard to go past them even if one isn’t a tech savvy. Over the years, we have seen Core i3, i5, i7 and even now we have the Core i9.

4. The RAM

From my secondary school days, I had this *Ram is a volatile memory* in my brain and it’s still very accurate 😹 since they say memory is lost after the computer is switched off. In terms of accessibility and allowing many apps to run at the same time, a good RAM is important. 4GB RAM in the world today is looking rather small as 8GB and 16GB have been suggested to be the minimum size one should seek.

5. The Screen Quality

I reluctantly included this because a part of me still feels it is not a KEY factor to consider which is not to say It is not necessary at all. I have seen some people say they can’t work with touchscreens because they are not ready to pay heavily if something goes wrong with it. If you’re more of a natural typist, you might want to consider going for a laptop that doesn’t have a touchscreen.

6.  The USB Ports.

You ask ‘Does it have a single port?’ The vendor replies ‘Yes’ and you say you are not interested.  Rather straightforward but that’s the trend these days. No one wants a single port allocation. USB3.0 is obviously faster than USB2.0 and that can play a major role in deciding . Mind you, we also have the USB 3.1 also . Money talks😄

7. The Graphics Card

The Graphics Card is responsible for rendering an image to your monitor, it does this by converting data into a signal your monitor can understand.

The better your graphics card the better, and smoother an image can be produced. This is naturally very important for gamers and video editors.

8. The Battery Life.

Very Important ‼️. There are a lot of things that determine how well your battery lasts ; Brightness, Applications , OS and what have you. From smartphone’s galaxy, the practice here is to look at the rating of the battery in Watt-hours (Wh) or milliamp-hours (mAh). The larger these figures are, the longer the battery can last.

Conclusion

I know you might have some other factors in mind like Keyboard Quality, Connection Speed with WiFi and co, Build Quality,  Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate, Biometrics, Keyboard light etc. The thing is all these can come immediately after observing the 8 factors I pointed out.😊

Your budget is paramount. Rarely does a laptop come along that ticks all the boxes, especially when it comes to price. You have to be able to sacrifice some for some in order to be realistic in purchase setting.

Good Luck👍

Nice write up man, but in addition.

Colour gamut is key for people that do design work. I also prefer AMD CPUs. AMD drowns Intel when it comes to multi core performances, i.e performing multiple processes together (multitasking), while Intel beats AMD in single core performances i.e focusing on a single work which can be used when gaming to make your cpu focus on running the game at high speed.

Getting any gadget including a laptop is all about what you want to use it for and your budget. With that you can pick the ones you need from everything crack listed and get a good one a t a reasonable price.

You have said it all. Buying something at an expensive rate doesn’t make it original and ignorance can mislead people.

Thanks for the prayers, God bless you too ⚡😍
